Inspired by the Surf Life Saving board racing events I want to create a piece focusing on a podium line up of the boards coming into shore. I wanted it to be bright to portray the vibrant colours of all the boards you see at a competition. And the enticing colours of a fresh ocean waters from turquoise to deep blue with the contrast of the white breaking points.
I also wanted to keep it simple without too much detail and adding in some texture to mimic the movement of the ocean and the speed of the boards cutting through the water.

This again was a complete experiment, playing with textured paints and seeing what could be formed with this type of scene. I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. I would love to do a larger scale version with even more texture, depth and movement to give the feeling of how fast and exciting these races can be to watch.
